Hey guys!

First and foremost, I apologize. I have had such a decision anxiety about what tactic I really should have as my final. I tried “TheClarets” a lot, but in the long run so it was not nearly as good as I first thought.

Therefore, I have now decided to use this as my final tactic. It works absolutely best among the ones I have created. I am in the process of updating the opening post with information about the required player attributes and so on.

And now I’ll complete a lot of tests with both good and less good clubs. So help yourselves … and once again I apologize. It’s so hard to decide sometimes.

Mr Langvatn’s Tactic Thread (Updated for 13.3.3)

My recommendations:

All-round tactic: 2-5-3 Angels V2 (2-5-3 DDDMC ANGELS, updates: Strikers score more, better defensive set pieces)

Update 06.06: I am currently testing many of my tactics in a “Liverpool template game”. I will also test a lot of other popular tactics on FM-base for reference. All tactics will then be tested against the same teams in the same order, with the same team. I will be going on vacation BETWEEN the matches, so there will be zero man management. I will upload the Premier Division Table here when I’m done Be patient

Keep in mind that some of the tactics might perform better with all the “right” player types. This will just be a “plug and play” test.

Also, keep in mind that the results does not prove that one tactic is better than another, as I have only tested with one team, and only for 20 matches each tactic. (It is hugely time consuming…)

I am semi-back Trying to start playing FM again, not easy with a 3 months old kid, but I do have time now and then in small amounts.

1. Always give your team high bonuses in the competitions you want to do good in…

2. Keep your players happy. In this year’s FM, this has a MUCH bigger impact than in previous editions.

3. Players: See the different roles

4. Match prep: Defensive positioning or Attacking movement (Your choice)

5. Training: Rich Genie’s training (Look at screenshots below)
(NB! This is only a suggestion to make talents reach their potential faster)

6. Team Talk: Been using assistant manager to do that

7. No opposition instructions

TRAINING SUGGESTION FOR BEST RESULTS RIGHT AWAY:

Balanced on average or high (Depending on your squad depth)
Default bar % (30%)
Attacking movement or Defensive Positioning Mach Prep

TRAINING SUGGESTION FOR QUICK TALENT GROWTH (This will make your talents grow a lot faster, but isn’t as good right away as high-balanced training/def.pos or att.mov match prep :

Pre season tips to get 100% fluid before start of season:
– Put the tactic in the 3 slots.
– Training: Cohesion en very heavy
– Trainingbar completely at the left (so 50%/50% training)
– Match prep: Tactic only. And rest after game ticked only.
– Arrange at least 10 friendly’s. Against harder teams tactic becomes faster fluid BUT morale can go down
so best is to like 3 easy friendly’s , 4 hard friendly’s and then 3 easy friendly’s so morale is high enough

Remember that when using plug and play tactics in FM, success is only 50% about the tactic. The other 50% goes into man management, training and player purchases!

Squad management tricks in FM 2013

How do I manage and rotate the squad? This question I receive from time to time from blog readers. Today I would like to share several principles used by me for Nottingham Forest in Football Manager 2013.

1. 100% Match Fitness

I follow not only condition level of every player but also match fitness. My hand is always on a squad pulse: all players have to have 100% of match fitness at any moment during season. How can one achieve that? It’s quite simply. Use squad rotation and – what is more important – availability for reserves.

As a good example, Nottingham Forest has Henri Lansbury who has been play for the club for 6 seasons in my game. He is certainly absolute backup level player now because I have more classy midfielders. But Lansbury’s level of match fitness is always 100% because I made him available for reserve squad.

2. Rotate carefully

Sometimes you feel yourself very shrewd and self-assured against weaker opponents. Quite often such an opponent may punish your team knocking out it from national cup or causing unexpected losses of points. So try to rotate carefully leaving at least a half of core players on a pitch.

I have to confess I don’t always stick to this principle. In rare cases it’s soooooo tempting to give some match experience to substitution bench players and give rest to all your main guys. For example, see my squad for home game against Brighton in the Premier League. Almost all footballers are from backup:

3. Give rest after match

Here is my match training in Nottingham Forest story. Taking into account my experience, your players may get very tired in the end of season if you don’t enable “Allow rest after match” checkbox. Some of those whose Stamina is not high may become totally jaded.

4. Condition above 94%

I select only those players for the first eleven whose condition is above 94%. Other should have some rest and can be used from substitution bench. That’s why you may see Rakytskiy, Ignojvski, and Hewitt unselected below.
